The Voodoo Test

Last night we had dinner with our friends, the Woodards. Apparently Dana has powers in the black arts and is able to predict the gender of babies to be born. She is 100% accurate in predicting the gender when she is not pregnant. While she was pregnant with her second child, she lost her powers and was able to predict neither her own child's gender nor any of the others. As soon as Maggie was born, her powers returned at full strength. Last night, she unleashed her mystical abilities on Shannon.

Her method involves a string and my wife's wedding ring. She dangles the ring from the string over Shannon's belly. Within a few moments, all the lights in the room flicker and dim. A light bulb or two shatter and Eddy started barking. Shannon floated up off the couch and wrote "It's a..." in latin on the ceiling with a green crayon. (Every element of truth in this entry stopped just after the word "belly.")

After a few seconds the ring began to move a little in a certain direction, which according to Dana, indicates that we're having a boy!

In about 8 weeks, well see if the doctors agree with Dana.

First Sounds

This is Shannon hearing the heartbeat of our little one for the first time. What a magical moment! Doc came in with the heart monitor and some belly jelly and next thing we knew, we heard the heartbeat. He let us listen for about 20 seconds but it felt like only a flash. I could have listened to that sound all day.
