First Pics

Here are the first ever pics of The Next Generation:

These pics didn't come from Olan Mills...we went to the ultrasound folks today. Getting to see our little one for the first time was spectacular! What a miracle. My favorite part was getting to see the little heart beat at 171 bpm and watch the little, stumpy hands flap around.

The ultrasound nurse said that everything looks great...mom and baby. She also determined that we are about 9 weeks along instead of 8. Therefore, the due date has been backed up from Dec. 25 to Dec. 20. This little one is determined to make it in tax year 2005...sweet!

Here is a link to the ultrasound gear that was used to do the deal.

First dr. appt.

We went to Dr. Wingo's today. We liked him. I don't imagine that he wants to move to Amarillo with us. It was awesome to have the nurse there do the pregnancy test and tell us that we're pregnant. For some reason, it validated the two home tests we did. Shannon and I laughed and cheered.

Dr. Wingo gave us a pregnancy 101 session. He said that we (humans) are a rather durable species. We (women) are designed to have babies. That seems obvious, but it quiets all those silly fears that are perpetuated through wives tales. He pretty much told Shannon that she could do whatever she wants to do and I can do whatever she tells me to do. I think this will work out fine.

The surprise of the day is that he wants us to go in for an ultrasound tomorrow morning because he thinks that the baby is a little bigger than 8 weeks (where we think we are). He said it was nothing to be concerned about and that it indicated one of three things:

1. Healthy fetus
2. We could actually be 10 weeks along
3. Twins

TWINS!?!?! We just laughed and high-fived when he said that. Who knows? We don't have a history of it in our family, but...

Regardless it will be a lot of fun to get to see the pictures tomorrow. I can't wait to see our child for the first time! WOW.

The fun begins

Shannon seemed to be a little "late." I tried to think nothing of it. The picture says it all:

Needless to say, it made our trip to Vegas a lot more interesting.

We are excited, scared, excited, and scared! Mostly, we are excited.
